Notes About Your Session
Garden coaching sessions are conversational and educational. Evan does not take written notes during the visit, so clients are encouraged to bring something to write with or record the session if they’d like to reference the information later. Many people choose to use the Voice Memo or video feature on their phone while walking the garden.
When Evan arrives, the session begins right away. The time is yours, so you can choose what areas of your yard you’d like to focus on. Some clients prefer a full walk-through of the entire property, while others use the time to focus on a specific garden bed or project area.
During the visit, Evan will walk the property with you, listen to what you enjoy about your garden, and discuss any challenges you’re experiencing. He can help identify existing trees, shrubs, and perennials, and provide guidance on pruning, plant care, and overall garden maintenance.
If plants appear to be struggling in their current location, Evan may recommend better spots in the yard where they could thrive. Depending on the season, he may also explain how to divide or transplant perennials so you can expand your garden using plants you already have.
The session often includes discussion about new plant ideas and ways to improve the space. Evan may sketch simple layout concepts to help visualize potential planting arrangements.
These sessions are focused on guidance, planning, and education rather than hands-on landscaping work. Evan does not bring heavy pruning tools and does not remove plant debris during the visit.
If you are interested in sourcing plants or expanding the project after the consultation, those options can be discussed at the end of the session.

Yes! Many clients choose to purchase plants after their garden coaching session. During the consultation Evan may recommend specific plants that will thrive in your yard based on light conditions, soil, and your design goals.
If you’d like help sourcing those plants, Evan can often purchase them through local wholesale nurseries and offer them to you at a competitive price. This makes it easier to get exactly the right plants for your space without having to track them down yourself.
Plant availability can vary depending on the season and what is available from local growers, but we’re always happy to help you bring the plan to life.
